You saw it here first, folks.
Turns out, Rabei Osman el Sayed Ahmed got some pretty shameful treatment while awaiting trial in Juan Carlos's Spain: prison guards insulted him, forced him to take a cold shower, kept him in a dark cell, took away his watch, and threw his copy of the Koran on the floor. Without a sense of time or direction, he was unable to know when to pray, or even in which direction he should face.
Mr. Osman faces charges of 191 counts of murder and 1,800 counts of attempted murder. If convicted, he faces Spain's maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.
