Here's a beer I'd love to try, but it's currently illegal in South Carolina. In fact, all but one of Unibroue's beers are illegal. This Chambly Noire has an interesting back story, and I'm looking forward to quaffing some of it. It might be a while. Maybe Toby or Tony can bring some to me this summer. Chambly Noire is a beer "on the lees." I like the phrase "on the lees." It's one of those biblical phrases like "fat of the land" that is so happy.So here's a toast to 2007, when South Carolina will officially discard this silly ABV law, and we can drink fine beer on the lees.
