A Victory For The Right Wing

André Boisclair was elected leader of the Quebec-based "Parti Quebecois" separatist party last week, making him the first openly gay man to lead a Canadian political party.
The ironic thing is that Boisclair's victory is seen as a coup for the right wing of the PQ. Quebec is a very liberal place, so having a gay politician with a history of hard drug use is not considered radical. But a fiscal conservative committed to balanced budgets... well that's pretty unorthodox.
