What Will The Heavenly Man Be?

Since Christ, the firstfruits of those who have fallen, the mighty Seed from which springs the garden, rose up from the dead, leaving Christians with the expectation and hope in the bodily resurrection, we have wondered: what will this heavenly body be like?
But someone will say, “How are the dead raised up? And with what body do they come?” Foolish one, what you sow is not made alive unless it dies. And what you sow, you do not sow that body that shall be, but mere grain—perhaps wheat or some other grain. But God gives it a body as He pleases, and to each seed its own body.

All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of animals, another of fish, and another of birds.

There are also celestial bodies and terrestrial bodies; but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory.

So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

So this Jack, joke, poor potsherd will be raised with a spiritual body...an immortal diamond. I recently asked on Facebook and on Twitter for some speculative feedback on the nature of this resurrection body. I have elsewhere speculated on the same, check it out. The thing is, this speculation (which was, it goes without saying, most reverent) was inspired by the following picture.

Therefore the question was asked: given a heaven in which the resurrected man has his mustache, what other attributes should we suppose this perfect man has? Pastors, rugby players, pipe smokers, and even Europeans and women contributed to the discussion. Here is a list of the attributes of this man:

  1. His mustache is full and curls naturally, without the use of waxes.

  2. He will have no back or shoulder hair, but the chest will be as furry as Chuck Norris vs. Bruce Lee.

  3. His halo will be attached to a scrumcap.

  4. He will be a skilled bare-knuckle boxer, whose fellows all join in the fun, and whose bruises all heal within the hour.

  5. He will have large biceps and perfect marksmanship.

Whether any of this is true or not, we know that the resurrected body will be perfect. I personally think it's a good bet that its marksmanship will be as well.

I would love to see any visual artists I know (or don't know) tackle a rendition of this man...I want to hear you say CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

  1. Hey, random question...do you know if Halfway to Habana relocated downtown? I can't seem to find the shop and have found no current info online. Thanks so much! I felt sure if someone knew it would be you...

  2. Halfway to Habana simply shut down, although I've heard a rumor that Paul is regrouping and putting something together. But with that new hookah bar and The Cigar Boxx relocating, that could be tough.
