Cooler Weather Means Sartorial Freedom

"Sartorial freedom" is the phrase du jour. I believe I use it twice in the video below. In the video I ramble joyously about the advent of cooler weather. In the South, and particularly in Florida where I hail from (although not where I live now), fashion choices are seriously limited by the weather. I look forward every year here in upcountry South Carolina to the months I can wear a sweater and a hat. Even wearing a tie seems suddenly more meet and right when the weather is cooler...if it's sixty degrees I can wear a sweater, or not; I can wear a hat, or not; I can wear a vest or a sports coat...or not!

Ah, sweet freedom. Today I wore a red cardigan in to work, and I didn't even care that I smelled like mothballs. I looked cool. On Monday, with a cold rainy front coming in, I busted out sweater, tie, and fedora. Keep cooling down!

  1. I'd have to go with the pocket watch. It just looks funny with shorts/t-shirts. Yet with pants and a sweater-vest. Just right.

  3. I look silly with any kind of hat (that's a confirmed fact). You wear the fedora and bow tie well. But what about falling leaves, a comfortable brown (fake) suede coat, a bowl of burley and a walk with the dog during sunset.

  4. You look silly in that turban, I'll give you that.

  5. It's a newsboy hat, actually. I don't wear it on a daily basis, though. Here you see it from another perspective: http://bit.ly/9FRMZZ

  7. LOVE living in New England and the fall months are the best...break out the pea coat and scarf, sweater and shirt and tie. Best time of year, just wish it was all year long.

  8. Wish so badly that I could fit into my grandfathers old smoking jacket that somehow got passed on to me. It is a knit jacket/cardigan with cool suade elbows and accents made in the 50's. Unfortunatly he was about 5'4" and prob 140lbs, I am slightly more so. He was the pitome of cool, a retired railroad engineer always sporting this jacket, a fedora with the feathers on the side and always had a pipe burnig.
